Ahold have today announced a new executive committee leadership structure, along with the appointment of a new chief commercial officer, Hanneke Faber.
According to the Netherlands-based Group, the new executive committee structure will 'simplify the company's governance structure and decision-making process, and ensure that the company's business and functional leaders are represented at the highest level'.
Joining Ahold as part of its new seven-strong executive committee is Hanneke Faber as chief commercial officer (CCO), who joins from Proctor & Gamble, where she worked in various senior general management roles. According to the Group, Faber brings 'years of global experience in innovation, stratagy, customer insights and leading international brands to Ahold. In her new role as CCO, Hanneke will be leading all global online and customer loyalty initiatives'.
The new executive committee will also include Ahold chief executive officer Dick Boer (overall 'Reshaping Retail' strategy, communications, external relations), chief financial officer Jeff Carr (finance, information management, real estate, simplicity), chief corporate governance counsel Lodewijk Hijmans van den Bergh (legal & compliance, mergers & acquisitions, responsible retailing), chief operating officer at Ahold USA James McCann (business operations, continental strategy), Ahold Europe's chief operating officer Sander van deer Laan (business operations, continental strategy) and Ahold's chief human resources officer, who will be responsible for human resources, leadership and organizational design.
Commenting on the leadership structure re-jig, Dick Boer, Ahold chief executive said, “Following the development and implementation of 'Reshaping Retail', Ahold is now at a point to adjust its leadership structure in a way that will best drive and support our growth phase."
The members of the Executive Committee will officially take up their roles from 1 September 2013. (18 June)
