Dutch retailer Ahold says it will relocate its corporate headquarters from Amsterdam to Zaandam in the second quarter of 2013.
The move will see the board of directors and about 150 employees working in support functions set up in the group's building in Zaandam, which currently houses the management teams and support teams of the company's divisions; Ahold Europe, Albert Heijn, Etos, Gall & Gall, and albert.nl.
“This move will enable us to maximize synergies and save costs,” said Dick Boer, CEO. He continued, “In Zaandam, we will benefit from co-location with our colleagues in Ahold Europe, while continuing to be located near to Amsterdam with its business and financial community and Schiphol Airport.” (28 Sept)
