Retail group Ahold Delhaize has announced that it is appointing Nick Bertram as president of the US supermarket chain Giant/Martin’s.
Bertram will continue his role as senior vice president of merchandising at Ahold USA until January 2018.
He will replace current president, Tom Lenkevich, who announced that he will retire at the end of this year. He has been the president of Giant/Martin’s since 2014.

Kevin Holt, chief operating officer of Ahold USA, said, “I am confident that Nick’s experience and knowledge will make his transition into the president’s role a smooth one.
“Nick has been a key architect of our commercial strategy and a leader in the ongoing work to create brand-centric organisations that puts the customer at the centre of all we do.”
Bertram joined Ahold USA in 2013. Prior to that he oversaw store operations for Jewel-Osco across Illinois, Indiana and Iowa. In addition, Bertram previously served as senior vice president for Supervalu and held other store operations positions with Walmart in Kentucky, Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania.
