Albert Heijn Opens Its First Forecourt 'To Go' Shop

Dutch retailer Albert Heijn has opened its first forecourt-based 'To Go' outlet.

The new shop is located at BP filling station 'De Vink', off the A20 motorway near Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel in The Netherlands. It offers a selection of fresh produce, other foodstuffs and products of particular use to passing motorists.

In a trial partnership with BP, Albert Heijn has agreed to tailor the new  'To Go' shops to the needs of motorists, in services and products.  Besides the regular AH 'To Go' selection, the outlet offers products like motor oil and windscreen-washer fluid.

'Scan & Go' tills and collection points for goods ordered online have been installed for customer convenience.

Ruben Beens, responsible for BP's retail business in The Netherlands, commented, "We are seeing a growing demand from our customers, for food 'on the go'. Albert Heijn is leading this market segment and offers a varied range of tasty, healthy foods. Combined with BP's first class products and services, we can provide motorists with all they need, at accessible locations."
