Auchan marked the 15th year of operation in Hungary with a meeting in Budapest on 6 June of 'historic partners and future partners'. The event, Auchan's first 'Partners Day' in the region, 'underlined the major economic role of the brand in the country', according to the company.
Along with Dominique Ducoux, general manager of Auchan Hungary, Sándor Fazekas, Hungarian Minister for Rural Development and Government Commissioner Imre Pesti were in attendance at the event.
Commenting on Auchan's involvement in the local economy, Ducoux said, "Among our 1,300 suppliers, 92% of them are Hungarian companies and 260 have been partners of Auchan since it arrived in the country. These partners have grown with us, and today they account for 40% of our turnover. We are proud to be able to take part in the development of Hungarian companies."
"Auchan enables Hungarian companies to grow sustainably and it participates in the economic development of the country," Minister for Rural Development Sándor Fazekas said.
"Hungarian products are competitive and are perfectly suitable for export. It is important that these products can be showcased, both in our own country and abroad," he added.
Auchan has 19 hypermarkets and 4 logistics centers in Hungary, employing some 8000 members of staff. (19 June)
