French supermarket group Auchan has announced plans to launch an online ordering and collecting service in Russia, five years on from the successful launch of Auchan Drive in France. Auchan is believed to be looking at opening its first Russian 'Drive' outlet outside of Moscow, possibly in the Northwest of the city, and is currently looking at sites in and around 2,000 sq metres.
The new concept will go under the name "????????" ["Achan-Atvo"] in Russia. Auchan has not given any indications as to how many Drive outlets it plans to launch in Russia, where it has had a presence since 2002. It currently operates 47 stores in the country. (14 Jul)
