Caribbean Export Taps Into Growing Demand For Caribbean Products Across Europe With First Virtual Expo Event
The Caribbean Export Development Agency (Caribbean Export) is tapping into the growing demand for Caribbean products across Europe and opening up the market for Caribbean producers with its first virtual expo, dubbed ‘Absolutely Caribbean, unlocking the profit potential of the Caribbean’.
Scheduled on 17 and 18 November 2020, the event will bring together around 50 producers to showcase some of the best products from the Caribbean islands.
Caribbean producers have a lot to offer to the European market, ranging from organic beauty products to aged rum and hot pepper sauce.
Statistics show that there has been a growing trend for Caribbean food, beverages and natural products across Europe over the last few years.
In 2018, over €26 billion worth of goods and services were exported across the globe from Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM), with Europe importing 17.6% of this total.
Attendees will have the chance to book slots and meet producers offering a variety of goods, including sauces and condiments; alcoholic drinks; natural, plant-based products; and nutraceuticals.
European consumer goods and retail experts will discuss the latest insights on these fast-moving consumer goods within the UK, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands.
Caribbean Export has partnered with Shaun and Craig McAnuff of Original Flava for the event, who have found great success with their Caribbean food and lifestyle platform and recently released their first cookbook of authentic Jamaican recipes.
The duo will host a cooking session at the virtual expo to demonstrate the versatility of Caribbean products.
The event is supported by the West Indies Rum & Spirit Producer’s Association (WIRSPA), a body that represents distillers’ associations from across the ACP Caribbean, and the International Trade Centre (ITC) Alliances for Action programme.
