Carrefour Belgium has launched its meal ingredient box, the 'Simply You Box', following a successful trial period in October of 2016.
The scheme, which places emphasis on seasonal Belgian SKUs, is available in portions suitable for two to four people. It offers a selection of nine ‘balanced’ sets of ingredients for meals weekly – three ‘traditional’, three ‘hearty’, and three vegetarian.
The price is €40 for two people (six meals), or €60 for four people (12 meals). The former works out at €6.67 per meal, and the latter at €5 per individual portion.
Collection points throughout Belgium provide options for pick-up, while delivery orders must be placed a week in advance.
‘Each box contains the right quantities of all the ingredients required to prepare the recipe, not including typical spices and cooking products,’ Carrefour said in a statement.
‘These extra ingredients are carefully listed in the description of each recipe. If customers have run out of these ingredients, they can be ordered in just a few clicks at the same time as the Simply You Box. Finally, sommelier of the year 2015/2016, Benoît Couderé, also suggests an ideal bottle of wine to go with the dish selected.’
The French chain added that the meals are easily-prepared, taking a maximum of 30 minutes.
