A new deal signed by the Wissol Group and Majid Al Futtaim Retail, which has a franchise arrangement with Carrefour, will see further supermarket openings for the French chain in Georgia, where it began trading in 2012, reports The Financial

At the outset, this partnership will lead to the opening of a supermarket in a new Batumi City shopping centre in the second half of July. The new store will occupy 2,500 square metres of floor space, and retail over 15,000 products.

As well as this, two new Carrefour supermarkets will be opened in Tbilisi, where it already operates two hypermarkets and six supermarkets.

Further Investment

“We are delighted with this successful partnership established between Carrefour and Wissol Group in Georgia,” said Philippe Peguilhan, manager of Carrefour Georgia, as quoted by FinChannel.com.

“It is our intention to develop several interesting projects together with Wissol Group. This partnership will pave the way for further expansion of Carrefour stores in Georgia, as well as further investments and more job opportunities.”
