Conad Sicilia ended 2018 with a turnover of €877 million and a 15.15% market share, confirming its top position in Sicily.
An estimated 650,000 Sicilian families shop in Conad stores on a daily basis, and the cooperative has around 181 local business partners and members.
Its network consists of 356 stores in various formats, including 35 Conad Superstores, 117 Conads, 93 Conad City outlets, 67 Margheritas, 25 discount Todis outlets, one Sapori e Dintorni Conad, and 18 traditional stores.
It also operates one PetStore, 14 pharmacies and two opticians.
In 2018, private-label products in Conad Sicilia accounted for 21.3% of sales, according to IRI data.
Its direct competitors reported 10.88% of sales in the category, which proves the absolute leadership of the cooperative in the private-label market.
Recently, in Palermo, Conad Sicilia launched its e-commerce project, which focuses on typical Sicilian fresh produce.
It offers customers the option of availing of home delivery of their purchases, or to pick them up from the store.
The initial response to the service has encouraged the cooperative to offer the service in other cities across Sicily in the future.
The retailer is also planning to invest €12 million this year, to boost its logistics assets and increase capacity by over 40%, to 90,000 square metres.
