J&J CEO To Step Down In April

William Weldon has announced that he will step down as CEO of Johnson & Johnson in April. The news follows much pressure on the company after a series of product recalls.

Alex Gorsky, the current Vice Chairman of the group, will take over as CEO at the next board meeting on 26 April. Founded in 1886, Gorsky will become the ninth CEO of the group. He joined J&J in 1988. He became Chairman of J&J’s pharmaceutical business in Europe, the Middle East and Africa in 2003. Weldon will remain as Chairman of the group. He held the post of CEO for nearly a decade.

J&J has suffered from two years of large-scale recalls. (22 Feb)
