Coop Sweden Appoints Christian Wijkström As Head Of Supermarkets

Coop Sweden has announced that Christian Wijkström is to be appointed as the managing director of it's newly-created subsidiary for stores and supermarkets, Coop Butiker Och Stormarknade (CBS).

Wijkström has previously worked as the retailer's regional director for Stockholm, and for the South/East region, managing over 240 stores.

"Christian was the board's obvious choice," said Magnus Johansson, CEO of Coop Sweeden AB.

"During his more than four years at Coop, he has proven his ability to drive profitability, and now he has an increased responsibility to secure growth in these important regions."

Company Reorganisation

CBS is currently 100% owned by Coop Sweden, but next year the business will be transferred to Coop Sweden's owner KF and the Consumer Association of Stockholm.

Johansson, who was appointed as the company's new CEO last month, was elected chairman of the board of CBS until the end the year, when a new chairman will be selected.

"I look forward to the task of running the business in a new form that is already looking at 2018 and beyond, which will lay the foundation for profitable growth," said Wijkström.
