Dino Polska Increases Store Count By More Than A Third

Polish retailer Dino Polska increased its store count by 37% last year, opening 202 new outlets, to give it a total store count of 977 at year-end.

The mid-sized supermarket operator, which opened 82 stores in the fourth quarter alone, said that its total selling space as to the end of the year was 375,700 square metres, which is up 27.3% on a year ago.

It cited ‘robust market conditions’ as well as rising consumption as push factors influencing the group’s rate of expansion.

Rapid Growth

"2018 was another year in which the Dino network rolled out rapidly – we opened a record-breaking number of new stores in the history of our business, while outstripping the number of openings planned for last year.” said Szymon Piduch, president of the management board of Dino Polska S.A.

“In the last three years we have doubled the number of our stores. Today, we nearly have one thousand Dino stores. This was possible because of our fine-tuned growth strategy and the trust our clients place in us.”

Logistics Expansion

Dino has backed up its store expansion with logistics development; last year, it opened its fourth distribution centre, in in Rzeszotary in Lower Silesia.

Piduch added that Dino has responded to Polish consumers’ increasingly busy lifestyles, “making it possible for our clients to do their daily shopping in comfortable conditions, at affordable prices and in close proximity to their homes.”

He said that in the coming year, the group was set to “continue pursuing” its organic growth strategy, given the prevailing macroeconomic trends.

As of the end of 2018, Dino Polska had 16,500 employees.
