Spanish retailer Eroski is reinforcing its promotion of regional products, spending a total of €5,144.8 million on purchases from regional suppliers last year.
The cooperative has partnered with 5,283 local and regional suppliers across a range of categories. 926 of this number are private label manufacturers, which provided 12,869 products in 2011.
Eva Ugarte, commercial director said, "The group's commitment to suppliers of localities and regions in which it operates is growing... Moreover, it is a way to assist the development of regional economies and indirect employment generating more wealth. " (13 Sept)
