Eroski Launches New Credit Card For Eroski Club Members

Spanish retailer Eroski has announced it has launched a new credit card for its client partners, adding more advantages to the Eroski Club program, three years after the club was launched.

The new club card is launched in collaboration with MasterCard and Santander Consumer Finance, with the aim of offering ‘new saving possibilities to consumers for an easier life’.

The new card will convert 1% of the sales transactions outside of Eroski into savings that can be used agaisnt future purchases in Eroski.

Eroski marketing director Eva Ugarte said, "This initiative is born of our desire to reinvent ourselves as a consumer cooperative, with new solutions for savings and personalised and direct advantages for our Partners and Customers that make life easier.”

Greater Accessibility

In addition, the new Eroski Club - Mastercard Card allows the holder to spend up to 300 euros in cash every day at any Eroski store without commission, unlike the normal limit available to customers in their usual payment method.

Ugarte added, ”An additional advantage, which has been very well valued in the first presentations to the Cooperative's Clients Partners, is the ease of obtaining cash in any of our stores.”

In line with Eroski 's multi - channel strategy, the new Eroski Club - Mastercard Card also offers a free Secure Shopping service on the internet, as well as free accident insurance.

The card is completely free of charge, with no issue or maintenance costs. It is also valid worldwide, and does not have commissions for currency exchange.

Ovidio Egido, CEO of MasterCard España commented on the deal, "At MasterCard we work to offer our customers state-of-the-art payment systems, which make buying easier, faster and safer.

“The collaboration with Eroski and Santander Consumer Finance, to be the brand of the card, makes it an important alliance with a great retailer in our market, whose commitment to its clients is to facilitate payment at all times.”

The news comes as the Eroski Club reaches its third birthday, which will be at the end of summer. Eroski has already surpassed 3.3 million Client Partners.
