Spanish supermarket chain Eroski is planning to open nearly 100 new stores in 2014, twice as many as last year. The Eroski group will focus its expansion in Andalucía, Madrid, Castilla la Mancha, Cataluña and two new areas in Extremadura and Levante.
Eroski opened 46 franchises stores throughout 2013, creating 253 new jobs after an investment of €14 million.
The group will strengthen its expansion plan through the franchise model. In a recent statement released by the company, Eroski said that the franchis model reflects a growth line that responds to its strategy of integration into cities and small towns of over 1,500 inhabitants through stores between 300 and 500 square meters with an exclusive offer of local products.
