Forecourt retailer Applegreen has announced that it has raised more than half a million euro for its nominated charity partners in 2016.

The Ireland-based group said that it ‘smashed [its] fundraising targets’, with charities Barnardos, Debra Ireland, ISPCC, and the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice set to benefit from its efforts.

“We set significant targets for our charitable fund committee and staff for 2016, to reach €500,000 over a twelve month period, which I am delighted to say we surpassed,” said Bob Etchingham, CEO, Applegreen plc,

“We are looking ambitiously towards 2017 with renewed enthusiasm for our charity partners and our goals. The charitable fund lies close to the hearts of all of us in Applegreen and the fund is further boosted by the ongoing fund-raising efforts and events organised by Applegreen committee and staff, here’s to exceeding expectations in 2017.”
