Forecourt Retailer Topaz Officially Rebranded To Circle K Ireland

Forecourt retailer Topaz has been officially rebranded to Circle K Ireland in a €20 million investment, the company announced Friday.

The rebrand will affect more than 420 sites across the country, which include independent retail partners. The company also announced an investment of €35 million into four new 'state of the art' Circle K service stations which will be built in the coming 18 to 24 months. These new locations will include two sites in Co. Kildare as well as sites in Gorey in Co. Wexford and Athlone in Co. Westmeath.

This brings the job force to 2,400, with the creation of 240 new jobs in five counties, including recently developed sites at City North beside the M1 in Dublin, and Junction 14 on the M8 in Fermoy.

The Re.Store brand will also be updated, but will continue to provide its existing and 'renowned' food offering. Circle K said it will further expand the current range.

New Partners

In 2016, Topaz was taken over by Canadian convenience store giant Alimentation Couche-Tard. Circle K is its global fuel and convenience brand.

Niall Anderton, managing director of Circle K Ireland commented, "Today is a momentous occasion for Circle K Ireland as we complete our two-year journey of integration and officially launch the Circle K brand in Ireland. We do this determined in our vision to be the world’s leading forecourt and convenience retailer building on our established position as market leader in Ireland."

Jacob Schram, group president of European operations at Circle K, commented, "We have always been deeply interested in Ireland and for years we watched the growth and success of Topaz from afar. To stand alongside our new partners in Ireland and formally introduce the Circle K brand is very satisfying and is testament to the hard work of many people both here and in the wider Circle K organisation."

"Ireland is at the cutting edge of forecourt and convenience retailing and we have big plans to build on the established position of the business in Ireland and bring our own global insights to the fore for the benefit of Irish consumers."
