ICA Gruppen Reports Positive Changes In Q1 Sustainability Report

ICA Gruppen released its first quarter sustainability report this month, showing substantial changes in areas such as greenhouse gas emissions, which have decreased by 27% during the period of July 2015 to June 2016.

The company has also reported that it has signed a new agreement regarding its private label dairy products, meaning that in future, they will all be made from 100% Swedish milk.

ICA Sweden also backed the initiative ‘Från Sverige’, the country of origin label assigned to food, ingredients and plants which are produced in Sweden and meet the criteria of the label.

The Q1 report also recorded positive sales growth for organic products, which was up +25% on a rolling 12-month basis.

The company has also kept a steady focus on auditing and monitoring working conditions at suppliers, as well as their environmental work. This focus addresses waste handling, chemicals and water treatment.
