According to reports in Romanian media, the Intermarché-owned InterEx has decided to close down its Romanian stores and completely exit the market by mid-November. After the retailer’s failed attempt to sell its stores in the country, InterEx now plans to sell off the stock of several stores it operates.
InterEx sales have been dropping for years now. In 2011, losses amounted to €16 million, while turnover fell to €37 million. InterEx currently operates in 12 stores in Romania. (20 Sept)
