Ireland: SuperValu Grows Market Share

Musgrave-owned Irish retailer SuperValu has grown its market share by 1.8%, according to the latest figures from Kantar Worldpanel.

“We are pleased with the latest figures from Kantar which shows that SuperValu sales grew by 1.8%," SuperValu managing director Martin Kelleher said.

"This continues on the excellent growth figures recorded over the summer period and as we move toward Christmas we will be working with our independent retail partners and suppliers to bring our customers new products and even greater value. Kelleher added, “With a market share of 19.7%, we are continuously working with our independent retail partners to deliver our customers real quality and value on a daily basis. The addition of Superquinn to the SuperValu network will create an unrivalled national Irish retail brand with one in four Irish consumers shopping at the expanded network of 222 stores and is indicative of our long term national commitment to Irish communities and the agrifood industry.”

SuperValu serves over 2,000,000 customers every week and has 198 stores nationwide and is committed to local employment and supporting local suppliers.

Retail group Musgrave recently announced that all of its Superquinn are to be rebranded under the SuperValu fascia in February 2014.
