Dutch Retailer Jumbo To Focus On Better Vocational Apprenticeships

Dutch retailer Jumbo has signed an agreement with the Vocational Business Cooperation Foundation (Samenwerkingsorganisatie Beroepsonderwijs en Bedrijfsleven) to create better workplace internships in the Netherlands.

The agreement seeks to increase the quality of traineeships and apprenticeships for students, and create a better connection between vocational schools and the labour market.

Investment

Jumbo has been training prospective employees in its own supermarket academy for 15 years. This year over 2,200 students will receive practical training in nearly 600 stores and distribution centres.

"We find it very important to invest in our employees, so they can develop better in their profession and strengthen the unique Jumbo formula," said Gea Kuiper, human resources director of Jumbo Supermarkets.
