Kaufland Begins Construction Of Distribution Centre In Australia

German discounter Kaufland has announced that it has commenced the construction of its Australian distribution centre in Victoria.

The facility, located in the north of Melbourne, will be equipped with state-of-the-art automation, and sustainability techniques.

Kaufland will invest around AUD255 million on this 115,000 square-metre facility, which is expected to generate around 600 new jobs in the region.

'Heart Of Supply Chain'

Maximilian Wiedmann, Managing director of Kaufland Australia, said, "Our distribution centre will be the heart of our supply chain. Employees will be responsible for providing our stores with numerous high-quality foods every day."

The distribution centre will supply products to Kaufland stores in Victoria, Queensland, New South Wales, and South Australia.
