Lenta Opens Third Hypermarket In Orenburg

Russian retailer Lenta has announced the opening of its third hypermarket in the city of Orenburg, south-east of Moscow.

The new store is a Lenta compact format hypermarket, with 2,885 square metres of selling space. A broad product assortment of 12,500 SKUs will be available, including Lenta private label, national product ranges, and local produce.

Continued Expansion

The Orenburg store is Lenta's sixth hypermarket opening in 2017, and brings the total number of Lenta stores to 197 hypermarkets in 79 cities across Russia and 61 supermarkets in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk and the central region.

This week the retailer reported that sales rose 16.7% to RUB 163.5 billion in the first half of 2017, however, like-for-like sales were down by 1.8%.

Due to its rapid expansion plan, the company has now become the largest hypermarket chain in Russia in terms of selling space, and the country's fourth largest retail chain in terms of sales.
