Lidl Sees Fivefold Revenue Growth In Croatia Over Decade

Discounter Lidl has seen its turnover in Croatia rise from HRK 767 million (€103.5 million) in 2007 to HRK 4 billion (€540 million) last year, new data has revealed.

The data, from Croatia’s Financial Agency (FINA) analysed the performance, in terms of turnover, over the past decade, of some of the country's top businesses.

Three grocery retailers feature in the list, which measures the businesses that have grown the most over ten years: Lidl places seventh, followed by Plodine with HRK 3.86 billion (€521.3 million) and Kaufland with HRK 3.37 billion (€455.1 million). Topping the list was Croatian oil and gas company Ina with HRK 15.09 billion.

However, it is worth pointing out that FINA’s ranking does not include leading Croatian retailer Konzum, as it has not yet submitted its annual financial report. According to estimates by local market experts, Konzum would be probably first or second on the list.
