Lidl US To Open Regional HQ, Distribution Centre In Georgia

Discount retailer Lidl has announced that it will establish a new regional headquarters and distribution centre for its US operation in Cartersville, Georgia.

The retailer said that the $100 million facility will create around 250 jobs over the next five years.

Lidl first established its US headquarters in Arlington County, Virginia in June 2015, and since then has announced additional regional centres in Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland.

Growth And Investment

“We are excited to announce new growth and investment in our US expansion” said Brendan Proctor, president and CEO of Lidl US.

“Our Cartersville facility will help us efficiently deliver top quality goods to our future customers throughout the area. We selected Bartow County because it offers an outstanding workforce and a centralised location for our distribution network."

Store Expansion

Following Lidl's entry into the US grocery market earlier this month, with ten stores opening across three states, the retailer has now announced the opening dates of four new stores in Virginia and North Carolina. The new wave of stores are set to open on Thursday 13 July.

Lidl has a rapid opening strategy in place that will see around 100 stores open in the US between now and summer 2018, and as many as 500 over the next five years.
