Menz&Gasser Expands Production Capacity in Italy and Asia

Italian jam, marmalade and honey producer Menz&Gasser is expanding production capacity both in Italy and abroad.

A partnership agreement has been signed with Unilever for the purchase of the Sanguinetti factory near Verona, as well as the expansion of production through a long-term supply contract, according to the company.

Menz&Gasser produces jams and marmalades for the HoReCa sector, spreads and jams for supermarkets, as well as fruit syrups for both distribution channels.

It also makes purees and semi-processed products for high-quality confectionery and ice cream making, as well as toppings for decorating ice cream and confectionery products.

Investment Plans

In addition to the Unilever-supported expansion, the company also plans to upgrade its processing and packaging lines for frozen fruit, and increase production of both creams and savoury products.

The long-term project also includes the development of a R&D centre in Sanguinetto, as well as planned collaborations with start-ups, universities and institutions.

The Sanguinetto plant has been at risk of closure or a major downsizing due to the possibility of relocation of some production.

Malaysia Production

Last month, Menz&Gasser also commenced production at its new factory in Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia).

The production site includes a research lab for the development of semi-finished products, designed and produced specifically for the needs of Southeast Asian markets. The finished products will still be made in Italy.

Menz&Gasser exports over 50% of its production to more than 50 countries worldwide.
