Metro Celebrates Its Customers With 'Own Business Day'

German retail and wholesale group Metro AG has announced that it is organising 'Own Business Day' on October 10, to celebrate its customers that operate small and medium-sized independent companies.

This is the second year that the event is running, and will take place in all 35 countries where Metro operates. It will target small and independent businesses, including 21 million Metro professional customers.

The company intends to establish this as an annual global event, which will provide support for local businesses, and promote their work to the general public.

“It will be a day full of new experiences and special offers – powered by proud business owners," said Metro AG chief operating officer Pieter Boone.

"By giving them the attention they deserve and promoting their activities with this special event, we eventually strive to bring more business to their doorsteps."

Important Connection

Metro has also commissioned an international study to build a understanding of the public's attitudes towards small businesses, and to provide this insight to owners.
