Naturalia Opens Three Vegan Stores In France

French retailer Naturalia has opened three new vegan supermarkets in Paris and Vincennes, selling exclusively organic and vegetable products, reports Le Figaro.

Although some French supermarket chains have established organic stores, such as Carrefour Bio and Biocoop, Naturalia, which is part of the Casino Group, is the first national brand in France with a store devoted to vegan products.

New Concept

The new store features around 2000 products, all made with 100% vegetable ingredients. Selection work had to be carried out with each supplier to ensure compliance with the specifications guaranteeing animal welfare, including the composition of products and the method of production.

Le Figaro reports that the brand does not yet have a precise plan for developing this vegan concept further, however, given the growing popularity of vegan and organic products, there is potential for expansion.

Overall, Naturalia opened 20 new stores last year, and another 20 are expected to open in 2017. Following its entry into the Casino group in 2008, the number of Naturalia outlets has grown from 38 to 150.
