New Carrefour Bio Stores To Open In 2016

Carrefour will open several new convenience stores under its organic banner Carrefour Bio over the course of 2016, with the first to begin trading this week in Paris’s nineteenth arrondissement, Linéaires reports.

Five Carrefour Bio outlets have been opened over three years, with the first opening its doors in March 2013. The average store size will increase to between 200 and 300 square metres, and each will offer about 3,700 products, of which between 1,300 and 1,500 will be private label.

It is anticipated that about ten branches will be in operation by the end of 2016. Richard Vavasseur, a director of premium brands at Carrefour, said, "Organic for Carrefour is not something new.

"We sold more than 125 million [organic] products in 2015, which means Carrefour Bio is France's largest organic banner."

A TV ad campaign is supporting the store-launches, running from March 20 to the beginning of April.
