Schwarz Group's Lidl has appointed Alexander Deopito as its new managing director in Austria, effective from this month.
The 47-year-old Styrian succeeds Brendan Proctor, who will return to Lidl's Irish operations, where he worked for ten years prior to his appointment to the position of MD at Lidl Austria.
Deopito joins from the Schwarz Group-owned discounter’s international buying department in Neckarsulm, Germany. Deopito is looking to raise Lidl Austria's focus on quality domestic goods even further, following a reorientation of the business in October 2012.
Salzburg-headquartered Lidl Austria GmbH employs around 3400 employees across 200 stores, and offers around 1300 lines, many of which are of Austrian origin.
