Newcomer Area At ISM Offers 'First Contact' To Buyers

ISM, the world's largest trade fair for sweets and snacks, is once again offering industry newcomers the opportunity to present themselves to the international buyers' market in the Newcomer Area. In total, around 1,600 suppliers from approximately 65 countries will be exhibiting at ISM, from 29 January to 2 February 2017.

Products range from fine biscuits and cereal bars to sweet and savoury fruit and vegetable snacks. As in previous years, the Newcomer Area is located in Hall 11.1, Stand D 31/E 38.

Fruit and vegetables as healthy snacks is one of the important themes at ISM. Some newcomers include banana chips in savoury versions. Already a classic in South America, they are set to take off in Europe, too. They come in two flavours: Salty and Sweet Pepper.

One Polish company processes different kinds of fruit in such a way that ingredients such as vitamins, calcium, magnesium or fibres are retained. Whether apples, strawberries or physalis, the dried fruits remain juicy and tasty.

A Thai company will showcase candied ginger that is exclusively made from selected ginger roots and sugar cane.

Another product features the baobab, a tree that grows in the African savannah. Mixed with amaranth, quinoa, different fruits or chia seeds, it becomes a delicious vegan bar sweetened using rice syrup.

A Berlin-based company will be bringing biscuits that emphasise energy, health and taste. Guarana, magnesium and herbs provide a boost of energy and a lovely taste. From the US, we will see wafer rolls, filled and non-filled, as well as fine tea biscuits.

Over the course of the four days, all ISM exhibitors will be presenting their wares to an international trade audience, professionals who travel to Cologne from all over the world once a year to examine new products and get to know future trends.

For all those who would like to gain an even deeper insight, lectures on trends and preferences will take place daily on the ISM Expert Stage. Among others, market-research company Innova Market Insight, online news platform Confectionery Newsand the Institute for Trade Research in Cologne are taking part. In addition to sweet and snack trends, consumer trends and e-commerce will be on the agenda.

ProSweets Cologne, the international supplier fair for the sweets and snacks industry, will once again be staged alongside ISM. The two fairs cover the entire value chain of sweet production and sales at the same time and place – a unique worldwide constellation. Both trade fairs are exclusively open to trade visitors.
