Pam Panorama Opens 'Safe' Convenience Store In Turin

Italy's Pam Panorama has opened a new Pam Local convenience store in Turin, which it has described as a 'safe store', in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The project aims to ensure the highest safety standards for both customers and workers, taking into account new shopping habits emerging as a result of the coronavirus emergency.

Tech Solutions

An high-tech ventilation system ensures constant airflow throughout the store, while an autonomous access and checkout management system allows for a faster shopping experience.

Outside the store, a floor communication system reserves a lane for people with priority entrance. Access is also managed by a number of electronic devices that limit the capacity of customers inside the store.

The store’s assortment includes a variety of Food to Go solutions, as well as 200 everyday SKUs available as part of the retailer's 'Risparmio Sicuro' (Guaranteed Saving) initiative.

Store Development

The new store has been built designed, engineered and built by CEAN, an Italian company that provides turnkey solutions to the retail industry and which has built over 15,000 stores.

The 'safe supermarket' is part of a wider project, CEAN Si.cura, which seeks to offer safe solutions for both existing stores and stores under development. Other elements to support the safe shopping experience are online sales channels and 'digital shop windows' that connect stores and customers.
