Portuguese hypermarket and supermarket chain Continente has entered the home delivery market in partnership with local company SendEAT in order to respond efficiently to the last-minute needs of customers.
Continente is promising delivery in 40 minutes or less. It will deliver a range of products including food, drinks, toiletries, baby products and household cleaning items.
The first phase of test runs are being carried out in Porto and the delivery service is expected to expand throughout the nation in the near future.
In June this year, the Continente banner was designated as the brand with the best reputation in the retail and distribution sector in Portugal by the Marktest Reputation Index (MRI).
Mobile Apps For Placing Orders
Orders can be placed online via the SendEAT website or through their mobile application. The app is currently only available on iOS but an Android version is expected to be launched by the end of summer.
Earlier this year, Continente launched a voice command shopping app to enable users to complete online grocery orders without sitting in front of screens.
The Pingo Doce supermarket chain, a part of Portuguese retail group Jerónimo Martins, already has a partnership deal in place with SendEAT but it is only for meals and limited to the area of Odivelas.
