Single price discount retailer Poundland has announced two new appointments to its board of directors.
Miles Roberts is named as a new non-executive director and senior independent director at Poundland.
He will also become a member of its audit, remuneration and nominations committees.
Roberts is currently group chief executive of DS Smith, the international supplier of recycled packaging, and prior to that he was CEO of McBride, provider of private label household and personal care products.
Tim Jones joins as an independent non-executive director and will also serve as chairman of the audit and risk committee.
A chartered accountant, he is currently group finance director of Mitchells & Butlers.
Jones previously held the position of group finance director of Interserve, a support services group.
Speaking on the appointments, Darren Shapland, chairman of Poundland, said: "These appointments to the Board are a major boost to Poundland."
He continued, "Both Miles and Tim will bring valuable senior experience in strategic development and sound financial performance that will be a great asset to Poundland as we continue to grow the business in the UK and abroad."
The appointments take effect from October 30.
