Publix Supermarkets has announced plans to end its ‘click & collect’ service this month. Underwhelming customer response and missed financial targets were the reasons given by the grocery giant for the decision. The employee-owned grocer said it will end its Publix Curbside service on January 26.
“While our Curbside associates have created many loyal Curbside customers, the number of consistent customers who chose to use this service was considerably less than required to meet our predetermined expectations,” said the company. It is the second time the company will end an online grocery offer, following its earlier aborted PublixDirect service.
The Curbside offer was rolled out to three stores; Publix charge $7.99 for the service. (10 Jan)
