Rewe has confirmed a new tie-up with Aral, which will see it trial a petrol station convenience concept.
Over the course of a year, the grocery giant plans to open 10 collaborative stores with Aral in the North Rhine-Westphalia region of the country.
Under the logo "Rewe ToGo", shops will be offering up to 1200 items, including products such as sandwiches, salads or cut fruit, but also pasta, rice, spices, oils and sugar.
The first of the planned stores is to be integrated on 3 April in Dusseldorf, and more will follow with openings in the cities of Bochum and Cologne.
