Spar Austria Announces Management Changes

Spar Austria has named Patricia Sepetavc as the managing director of Spar Salzburg and Tyrol, effective 1 April 2021.

Sepetavc (pictured above - right) is an accomplished professional with expertise in regional food retailing in Salzburg and Tyrol.

She joined the Spar headquarters in Wörgl in 2008 and served in several roles in the areas of ​​expansion and location development, as well as the management of special projects in the company.

Sepetavc, an economics graduate, took over the management of the branch organisation for both provinces in 2015 and has been an authorised signatory of the Spar head office in Wörgl since 2016.

Other Changes

She succeeds Dr Christof Rissbacher (pictured above - left), who held this position for the past nine years.

He will move to Padua in Italy to take over the management of Despar Italia (ASPIAG Service srl.).

During his tenure as the managing director of Spar Salzburg and Tyrol, Dr Rissbacher was in charge of group expansion and project development.

Elsewhere, Martina Bichler has taken over the management of the Spar store organisation for Tyrol and Salzburg, the retailer added.

Annual Performance

In 2020, Spar Austria reported a 16% growth in sales in its food retail division, amounting to €8.32 billion. This performance exceeded the estimated average growth of 10% projected by Nielsen for the Austrian food retail industry.

The retailer gained a market share of 1.8% during this period to become the country's new market leader with a total market share of 34.6%.

Spar Austria Group saw gross sales growing by 5.6%, to €16.60 billion in 2020, across all three business areas, food retail, sports retail, and shopping centres.
