Spar Austria generated gross sales of €6.42 billion across its 1,620 Austrian stores in 2016, marking an increase of 5.3% compared to the previous year.
The overall Spar Austria Group, which includes over 3,000 stores in Austria, Hungary, Slovenia and Croatia, recorded gross sales of €13.8 billion - an increase of 4.8%.
Market Investment
It invested €600 million in new stores last year, and attributes the high levels of growth in the Austrian market to the takeover of 28 Zielpunkt stores in eastern part of the country.
The group created over 2,500 new jobs in 2016, and currently employs 77,480 people.
