As part of the new structure, general manager John van der Ent will take over as the chairman of the management team.

'Logical Next Step'

Van der Ent commented, "With the appointment of Pim Dirckx as operations director, Spar is taking the logical next step in its rapid expansion of stores in the Netherlands."

Since 2009, Spar Netherlands has focused on modernising its stores in the country to offer consumers 'everyday convenience'.

According to Van der Ent, the retailer needs to emphasise on further professionalisation of business guidance and implement tools and systems that facilitate operational processes in the stores.
