Spar Slovenia Inaugurates New Store Concept

Spar Slovenia has introduced a new, modern store concept, focused on natural materials and colours, which will become a permanent feature of future Spar stores in the country.

The concept has been implemented in two new stores opened over the past fortnight: a hypermarket in Medvode (€6 million investment, with 1,760 m2 of retail space) and a supermarket in Trzin (€3 million investment, with 1,000 m2 of retail space).

At the front of the store is the fresh food department, incorporating a section exclusively dedicated to products from Slovenian producers. There is also a 'Spar To Go' department, with ready-made meals for customers that are in a hurry.

Energy efficiency plays an important part, with the use of energy saving LED lighting and an efficient 'Hybrid-Cool System' cooling technique that uses CO2 gas and 134A. The surplus heat from the refrigeration system is heated in winter and cooled in the summer, thus making the store environmentally friendly. Furthermore, the whole store is only equipped with LED illumination.

With the latest store openings, Spar's store total in Slovenia has reached 95.
