Stop & Shop Announces Management Changes As President McGowan Steps Down

Ahold Delhaize has announced that the president of Stop & Shop, Mark McGowan, is set to leave the organisation by the end of this year.

The president of Giant Food, Gordon Reid, will succeed McGowan and assume office in late July as the new president of Stop & Shop.

McGowan will remain with the company until the end of this year to ensure a smooth transition.

The senior vice-president of operations at Giant Food, Ira Kress, has been named its interim president.

'A Strong Foundation'

Chief executive of Ahold Delhaize USA, Kevin Holt, said, "Mark McGowan has had a tremendous impact for the Ahold Delhaize USA brands, as well as the communities they serve, and we thank him for his 30-years of tireless service."

'An Excellent Leader'

Commenting on Reid's appointment, Holt said, "Gordon is an excellent leader of people, with a strong focus on serving customers, engaging associates and supporting local communities."

"During his time at Giant Food, the brand has successfully grown sales and market share, and has strong associate engagement results," he added.
