Auchan Romania Aquires OK Supermarket, With Three Stores In Bucharest

Auchan Romania is said to have acquired local retailer OK, which operates three supermarkets in the capital Bucharest, according to Ziarul Financiar.

Auchan has remodelled these stores under its 'My Auchan' brand, with the first two reopening this week, and the third set to open on Monday.

The French retail group began operations in Romania in 2005, and now operates 33 hypermarkets and four My Auchan supermarkets in the country

Group Transformation

In its global operations, Auchan Retail is currently undergoing a transformation plan, with the aim of making its retail banners more homogenous, and placing greater emphasis on the Auchan brand.

As part of these scheme, the group yesterday announced that it was establishing a new management committee, to create a more international and 'close-to-the-ground' leadership team.

Country directors, including Ionut Ardeleanu, director of Auchan Retail Romania, were appointed to this committee, led by the group's managing director Wilelm Hubner.
