UK retailer Sainsbury's has announced that it is rolling out its one-hour delivery service to five more boroughs in London.
The 'Chop Chop' service was initially trialled in the grocer's Pimlico and Wandsworth stores last year, but it will now be available to customers in over 70,000 more postcodes in Zones 1 and 2.
The service allows customers to order up to 25 items from the Sainsbury's app and have them delivered within one hour, for a flat fee of £4.99.
“We’re delighted the trial of our Chop Chop delivery service in Wandsworth and Pimlico has proven to be such a success," said Clodagh Moriarty, director of online at Sainsbury's.
“We were the first UK supermarket to introduce one-hour delivery last year, and this roll-out will give us the largest reach to shoppers across London. It’s an exciting time for our customers, and we hope to see continued success of Chop Chop within these new boroughs,” Moriarty said.
Delivery Growth
Sainsbury's one-hour delivery will be now be available seven days a week, in Barnet, Brent, Camden, City of London, Ealing, Hackney, Hammersmith & Fulham, Islington, Kensington & Chelsea, Lambeth, Merton, Southwark, Tower Hamlets, Wandsworth and Westminster.
The retailer also began trialling a 30-minute click-and-collect service at its Pimlico store in August.
In recent months, both Tesco and Marks & Spencer have rolled out their own one-hour delivery services in London, as online retail giant Amazon expands its grocery presence in the UK.
