Sligro Food Group Posts 9.6% Increase In Sales In 2018

Dutch wholesaler Sligro Food Group has posted a 9.6% increase of €2.35 billion in 2018 sales across its continuing operations.

The equivalent sales total for 2017 was €2.14 billion, the group reported.

Organic growth at the business was influenced by a number of technical items, the group added, and when adjusted for this, ‘other’ organic growth was 3.1%.

On a quarter-by-quarter basis, sales in the first quarter of the year stood at €525 million (+12.7%), while the second quarter saw sales of €606 million (+9.5%), the third quarter saw sales of €591 million (+11.4%), and the final quarter of the year saw sales of €624 million (+5.5%).

Foodservice Sales

At Foodservice Netherlands, the total increase in sales was 8.9% (organic growth was 0.7%), while at Foodservice Belgium, the total increase was 14.3% (organic growth of 3.4%).

The Foodservice figures include December's provisional net-sales effect from the partnership agreement with Heineken and the acquisition of Heineken’s wholesale operations.

The year 2018 was notable for the sale of EMTÉ to a consortium comprised of Jumbo and Coop, which was completed in July. The EMTÉ performance for the period leading up to that sale is not included in Sligro's full-year figures.
