Alberto Herranz, director of trade association Interprofesional del Porcino de Capa Blanca Español, said that the industry was aiming to hit €4.5 billion in export sales in 2016, "which would mean another historical year."

He pointed out that some of the markets that have experienced growth are China and Japan in Asia, and Poland and Romania in the EU. China has consolidated itself as the biggest market for Spanish meat and meat products, accounting for over 248,000 tonnes.
