Sankt Andrä Spar (Austria) Wins 'Golden Fir 2016' Award

Gerald Forjan, a Spar shopkeeper in Sankt Andrä - St. Andrae, in the Austrian Lavant Valley - has been voted "Salesman of the Year", winning the 'Goldene Tanne 2016'. The 'Golden Fir' is the highest Spar award in Austria, annually allocated to one Spar entrepreneur in each region.

The friendliness and competence of Spar Forjan's staff were the deciding factor in securing the award. The trophy, the 'Golden Fir', was handed over at the traditional 'Spar-Kaufleute Tagung', or 'Spar-Merchants' Meet', held in Graz this year.

The Spar-Kaufleute Tagung is an annual, two-day event, at which representatives of the Spar sales team meet with Spar board members and managing directors, to debate the latest developments in the Austrian food trade.

"It makes me very proud to hold the Golden Fir in my hands," said Gerald Forjan. "My thanks go to my motivated team. This award is the best incentive for all of us to go ahead and make our loyal customers enjoy their shopping with us even more!"
