Spar Netherlands Opens First Three Spar Express Forecourt Shops

Spar Netherlands has reported that it has opened its first three Spar Express forecourt stores in the country, in Geertruidenberg (North Brabant), The Hague (South Holland) and Amstelveen (near Amsterdam).

Two more Spar Express outlets are set to follow, in Arnhem and Wateringen.

The development of the forecourt stores is the result of an agreement between Spar and the EFR (European Forecourt Retail Group), which operates the Texaco service stations where the Spar Express shops will operate.

"The new Spar Express stores are going to be grocery stores, where you can fill up the car and not the other way around," said Spar Netherlands’ commercial director, Susanne Kroon.

Like the Spar City stores, the forecourt outlets will focus on a convenient food-to-go range and a selection of groceries, to suit the location and the community.

The shops will also cater to passing motorists, with products such as engine oil and windscreen washer fluid on offer.
