Retailer group AS Watson, owned by the Hutchison Whampoa conglomerate, has reported strong growth for its last fiscal year. AS Watson said overall revenues rose by 17 per cent to HK$143.6 billion. Meanwhile, operating profit increased by 19 per cent to HK$9.3 billion.
The performance in Europe was particularly satisfying as it recorded growth in sales and operating profit despite the difficult trading environment, said AS Watson. Very strong growth was recorded in Asia, it added.
The group said that it plans to continue the expansion of its store network in 2012, with a particular emphasis on countries such as China. (3 Apr)
