UK retailer Waitrose has reported that summer foods are continuing to prove popular with shoppers, with items such as ice and soft fruit up 34% and 10%, respectively, in the past week.
Haloumi sales rose by 32%, while avocados also increased, by 32%.
Total division sales (excluding fuel) were down by 0.2% compared to the same week last year, which has been attributed to the later occurrence of Waitrose’s Half-Price Event 2015.
